- I met with my Pods group this week to start combining and synthesizing our research into a shared Powerpoint file.
- “Librarians are the fount of knowledge”
- Discussed tech resources in SD 62 with guest speaker
- I appreciated that an indigenous learning resource was shared this week because I love finding ways to include indigenous ways of knowing and being into my teaching practice
- I found the World Book Early Learning resource very interesting. I love how one can use it to find a resource aligning with BC curriculum and grade level, I think that would be immensely handy.

ADST Curriculum for my preferred grade level (Grade 1):
- Big Ideas: designs grow out of natural curiosity, skills can be developed through play, technologies are tools that extend human capability
- It was interesting to me that under content, it simply says that teachers are expected to use the provided big ideas and competencies to integrate ADST instruction into their lessons for other subjects, but I suppose it makes sense given that children of this age do very well with more hands-on instruction and activities.
I signed up for the my required 2 virtual sessions for Friday (13th). I am attending “The Digital Classroom for K-7” with Lisa Read and “Live it! Place-Based Learning K-7” with Blue Netherclift. I am especially looking forward to the latter because, as an Indigenous woman, place-based learning is of particular importance and interest to me.
For my POD project, I am going to look over reading break at resources pertaining to using digital motivation resources for students with additional support needs and learning disabilities, which had not occurred to me to do until it was discussed at my POD’s meeting with Mike. I consider accessibility an important value of mine in teaching because I am physically disabled and have worked with a lot of students with a variety of disabilities and support requirements. Similarly, I have seen those same students fail to be given the things that they need to learn, and that further drives me to take advantage of my present learning opportunities in this program on ways to prevent that in my future teaching practice.
