I’m pretty happy with how my inquiry project turned out. I got to bake fun things, I got to eat fun things, and I actually feel like I learned something. I was correct in my predictions: nobody complained about the free food. I think I’m most proud of the fortune cookies because they were baking redemption for 15 year old me. I wish I had had a chance to try the salt dough though, maybe I could even incorporate it for my practicum, because there are so many educational applications for it. I’m glad that I chose baking for this project. In the beginning, it felt more like I was finding ways to relate baking to teaching for the sake of the project and it’s requirements, but at a certain point I found genuine interest in doing so. I am sure there’s some irony to found here between that and the fact my POD project was on intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation, and how extrinsic motivators (like relating education to my baking for the sake of a grade) can eventually turn into intrinsic motivators (developing actual interest on my own).

It would be a stretch to say I erradicated my proclivity for sticking to baking what I know will turn out well over the course of this project, but I can confidently say that I have built more tolerance for uncertainty and greater comfort around experimenting in the kitchen!
